Dr. AJANTA BISWAS is not just one of the youngest teachers in the department of History in Rabindra Bharati University but also an ardent scholar who has devoted herself to the explosive topic of the day in her Ph.D dissertation for which University of Calcutta has awarded her Ph.D degree very recently. She has been supervising a good number of research scholars both at the M.Phil and Ph.D levels. Some of her recently published articles are as follows: â€˜Sakharam Ganesh Deuskar and the Swadeshi Movement in Bengal: The Second Identityâ€™, Social Scientist, Mar-April 2005; â€˜The Communist Challenge in Indonesia: From a Historical Hindsightâ€™, Asian Studies, Jan-June 2008. Vol XXVI; â€˜Banga Vanger Prathamdinâ€™, Itihas Anusandhan 21 ; Contributed essays for the requirement of the project in the compilation of the Dictionary of Historical Places /Personalities conducted by the Department of History, Jadavpur University and approved by the State Level Committee on the occasion of the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the First Indian War of Independence; â€˜Recent Trends in Urban History: A Study of the Eighteenth Century Murshidabadâ€™, Modern Historical Studies, Journal of the Department of History, Rabindra Bharati University,volume 7, March 2010-2011.
She is the member of Paschimbanga Itihas Samsad; Indian School of Social Sciences, Calcutta; Indian History Congress etc. She is one of the members to the editorial board of the departmental journal: Modern Historical Studies, annually issued from the department of History, Rabindra Bharati University. She is also an associate member of Student Health Home, Calcutta. Formerly she had been member of the Board of Undergraduate Studies in History, University of Kalyani; assistant secretary of the Jadavpur Association of International Relations. She was the nominated member of the state level gender unit of â€˜Sarva Shiksha Missionâ€™ West Bengal in 2007. She was granted â€˜Foreign Travel Grantâ€™ from the Indian Council of Historical Research in 2007 and visited London for research purpose. She has participated in the international, national seminars and workshops organized by University of Calcutta, Jadavpur University, Rabindra Bharati University, Netaji Institute of Asian Studies etc. She has taken part actively in organizing seminars, workshops held in the department. The papers she has presented recently are as follows: â€˜1947 â€“ In Historical Perspectiveâ€™, in UGC sponsored National Seminar organized by Dept. of History, Rabindra Bharati University in February 2006; â€˜Post Colonial Factionalism in Congress Politics: A case study of West Bengal, 1947-1967â€™ in UGC sponsored National Seminar organized by Department of History, Rabindra Bharati University in March 2010; â€˜The partition of Bengal: A study of politics of Bengal provincial Congress(1945-1947)â€™in UGC sponsored National Seminar organized by Department of History, Rabindra Bharati University in March 2011; â€˜1960-er dashake paschimbanger pradeshik rajnitir sankat :ekti oitihasik porjalochonaâ€™ in XXVIII Annual Conference of the Paschimbanga Itihas Samsad held on 24th to 26th January, 2012 at Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur etc .
